How to Stop Resisting Change and Start Growing Through It

Every Big Change Feels Hard at First—But It’s Worth It

I never imagined becoming a flight attendant at 40. Or starting my own business at 60.

And at 59, I certainly didn’t expect to finally let go of a decade-long struggle with alcohol.

Each of these moments felt impossible before they happened. Change wasn’t easy. It stretched me. It pushed me out of my comfort zone. But looking back, I can see how each season of change led me exactly where I needed to be.

💡 Maybe you’re standing at the edge of something new right now. And maybe it feels scary. I get it.

When we’re in the middle of change, it can feel like everything is shifting beneath us. Our routines, our comfort zones, even the way we see ourselves—it all feels unfamiliar. And when things feel unfamiliar, our natural instinct is to resist.

We hold on to what we know. Even if it’s not serving us anymore.

Even if it’s keeping us small.

Even if we’re missing out on what’s ahead because we’re afraid to let go of what’s behind.

The Truth About Change and Growth

But here’s what I’ve learned: Growth often feels like resistance before it feels like freedom.

It’s uncomfortable because it requires us to step into the unknown. But what if, instead of seeing change as something to fear, we saw it as an opportunity?

👉 If you’re struggling with change, ask yourself:

  • What if this challenge is actually an invitation to grow?

  • What if the discomfort means you’re on the verge of something amazing?

  • What if this transition is preparing you for something even better than you imagined?

The moments in my life that felt the hardest were often the ones that shaped me the most. When I stopped resisting change and started leaning into it, I realized that every ending was really a new beginning in disguise.

You Are Never Too Late to Begin Again

No matter where you are in life, no matter how many times you’ve started over, you are never too late, too stuck, or too old to step into something new.

God doesn’t waste anything. Every experience, every struggle, every change—it’s all part of your story.

So, if you’re in a season of transition right now, I encourage you to trust the process. Keep growing. Keep leaning in.

Your next chapter is waiting. And I promise—it’s going to be worth it.
